Olivia Rodrigo Wiki

Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989), is an American singer, songwriter, actress, director, philanthropist, and businesswoman. She is one of Olivia Rodrigo's music inspirations and friends.

Personal life[]

Swift signed with Big Machine Records in 2005, starting as a country pop singer with her first two albums Taylor Swift and Fearless . Their singles "Teardrops on My Guitar", "Love Story", and "You Belong with Me" were crossover successes on country and pop radio formats. She experimented with rock on Speak Now and electronic on Red, recalibrated her image from country to pop music with the synth-pop album 1989, and the ensuing media scrutiny inspired the hip-hop-imbued Reputation; the albums contained the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", "Bad Blood", and "Look What You Made Me Do".

Shifting to Republic Records in 2018, Swift released the electropop album Lover (2019) and the autobiographical documentary Miss Americana. She explored indie folk styles in the 2020 sister-albums Folklore and Evermore and subdued pop genres on Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department, while also re-recording four of her albums subtitled (Taylor's Version) after an ownership dispute with Big Machine. The albums garnered the U.S. number one songs "Cruel Summer", "Cardigan", "Willow", "All Too Well", "Anti-Hero", "Is It Over Now?", and "Fortnight" in the 2020s. Her sixth concert tour, the Eras Tour, and its accompanying concert film are respectively the highest-grossing tour and concert film of all time; Swift became the first billionaire with music as the main source of income and the highest-grossing female touring act.

Relationship with Olivia[]

Olivia is a huge Swiftie, and looks up to Taylor Swift. She met Taylor at the 2021 Brit Awards. They shared a photo on social media. After the success of "Drivers License", Taylor sent Olivia the ring she wore while recording Red, alongside a handwritten note.

However, Olivia was later criticized for stealing Taylor's songs including "New Year's Day" which she sampled for "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back" and "Cruel Summer" which she interpolated on "Deja Vu". Chris Rodrigo tweeted about how she was also criticized for stealing from several other artists but none of them did anything because, as he said, they knew the difference between copying and taking inspiration. This post is considered to be indirectly about Taylor. However, at the 2023 VMAs, Taylor was seen excitedly cheering on Olivia when she performed "Vampire" and "Get Him Back!" live. She was also seen singing along to "Vampire" when Olivia performed it at the 66th Grammy Awards. The criticism and controversies haven't affected their relationship. In a recent viral clip when a person asked Olivia if she is the new Taylor Swift she replied saying she isn't, as Taylor Swift is an OG artist. She also confirmed that she doesn't have any bad blood with Taylor Swift.
