"Obsessed" (stylized in all lowercase) is the thirteenth and first deluxe track from Olivia Rodrigo's sophomore studio album, GUTS. It was released on November 24, 2023 and rereleased on March 22, 2024 through Geffen Records.

According to Olivia in a tweet, the song was written sometime in 2021.[1]
The track was first teased in a video Olivia's team posted to their Instagram alongside "Scared of My Guitar", "Stranger", and "Girl I've Always Been" showing off the GUTS website exclusive vinyls.
The track was originally exclusive to the: standard black, web store exclusive red, Spotify Fans First exclusive picture disc, indie exclusive lavender, opaque magenta, Target exclusive sea foam, Amazon exclusive bright pink, Walmart exclusive clear, Hot Topic exclusive bright blue, and Urban Outfitters exclusive light pink GUTS vinyl.
On October 18th, 2023, Olivia announced that "obsessed", along with the other hidden tracks, would be released on a special edition vinyl called GUTS: the secret tracks on Record Store Day.[2]
On March 18, 2024, Olivia’s hotline would play a snippet of the song when called. The following night of March 19, the deluxe version of GUTS, GUTS (spilled), was announced.[3]
On March 20, 2024, Olivia announced that the music video for the song would release at 9pm PT the following day, March 21.[4]

"Obsessed" debuted at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 issued for April 6, 2024. The song became Rodrigo's seventh to reach the top 10 of the Pop Airplay chart, at number 10. It was her ninth to achieve the same milestone on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, at number 2. In Canada, "Obsessed" entered at number 20 on the Canadian Hot 100 issued for the same date. The song debuted at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart and became Rodrigo's eighth top-10 single. It was certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry.

“Obsessed” is a 2-minute and 50-second grungy rock, pop-punk, alternative rock, power pop, emo, and pop-metal song with elements of punk rock, and alternative metal. Produced by Dan Nigro, the track features gritty guitars, distorted vocals, heavy bass, and dynamic shifts between soft verses and an intense, chaotic chorus. The instrumentation includes contributions from St. Vincent on guitar and Garret Ray on drums, with mixing by Spike Stent and mastering by Randy Merrill. It was recorded at Amusement Studios in Los Angeles. Lyrically, “Obsessed” explores themes of jealousy, insecurity, and obsession through a sapphic narrative. Rodrigo fixates on her partner’s ex-girlfriend, admitting to researching personal details and spiraling into envious thoughts. The track mirrors teenage emotional turmoil, particularly around comparison and self-doubt.
Music video[]
In the video, Rodrigo enters a hotel ballroom and encounters the partner's exes, one of whom blows smoke towards her. The women compete in a beauty pageant titled "Exes Gala", which turns into an award show where Rodrigo presents them trophies bearing titles like "The Life of Every Fucking Party,", "Good with Kids", and "She Even Speaks Kindly About Me". She gives a deadpan facial expression during most of the video, which Saulog believed represents her envy towards the exes. In other scenes, Rodrigo performs the song in an adjoining room with a tuxedo-clad band and sings the bridge while encircled by some of the exes. The video concludes with her cleaning up the venue after everyone else has left.
