Joshua T. Bassett (born December 22, 2000) is an American actor and singer. He is Olivia Rodrigo's rumoured ex-boyfriend and co-star on the Disney+ show High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Career

Bassett's first substantial role was in 2018, when he played the recurring role of Aidan Peters on the Disney Channel television series Stuck in the Middle.

Bassett was cast in his first starring role at age 17 as Ricky Bowen, the male lead, in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. According to Playbill, Bassett co-wrote "Just For A Moment" with co-star Olivia Rodrigo for the series' soundtrack.

In early 2020, Bassett signed with talent and entertainment company United Talent Agency as well as signed a recording contract with Warner Records. He released his first single, "Common Sense", on music platforms on April 3, 2020. His second single, "Anyone Else", was released on July 16, 2020. Bassett released his self-titled debut EP on March 12, 2021, with the lead single, "Lie Lie Lie", being released on January 14, 2021.

Relationship with Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo was rumored to had dated Joshua Bassett while on the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series set. Many of Olivia’s songs are also rumored to be about Joshua Bassett and their relationship, although many of these rumors were never confirmed by primary sources.

After seemingly ignoring each other for a long periods of time, Olivia and Joshua were spotted on a red carpet right next to each other and talking. In fact, it started getting rumored that Bad Idea Right? was about their possible rebound relationship. All of those rumors were never confirmed though.
