Daniel Leonard Nigro (born May 14, 1982) is an American songwriter and producer. He is the former lead singer and guitarist of the indie rock band As Tall As Lions. Alongside collaborators Ariel Rechtshaid and Justin Raisen of Heavy Duty Music, Nigro has recently written and produced for Carly Rae Jepsen, Sky Ferreira, Empress Of, Lewis Capaldi and more.
He is the main producer on both of Olivia Rodrigo’s albums, SOUR and GUTS.
Relationship with Olivia[]
Nigro first came upon Olivia on Instagram, when he found a video of her singing her original unreleased song "Happier" and loved her voice and songwriting style, so he DM'd her so they could work together.
The pair met soon after but then the pandemic hit and halted their plans. Months later, after a series of safety procedures, they were able to hunker down at Nigro’s home studio to start working on new material. Eventually, Rodrigo started bringing in “half-baked” ideas, one of which was “Drivers License.”[1]
He and Olivia work in the same mentality of bringing an idea and working together to make it better, and that is how they came up with all of their collaborations. Olivia said in many interviews that she and Nigro are very good friends and he is her main producer.
